DRAWING TIPS ….
NEVER RIP PAGES OUT OF YOUR SKETCH BOOK!!! I cannot stress this enough. Do not throw out your drawings.
I don’t care how much you hate your drawing.
I don’t care how “stupid” or “terrible” you think the drawing is, you have to keep it.
Why?
Because, even if the drawing is bad, the idea can be terrific. I can’t tell you how many great comic book ideas I’ve gotten by looking at very old (and bad) sketches. If I threw out the sketches I thought were terrible I would of lost that great idea. So keep your sketches, your future self will thank you!

Not every piece of art you make has to be a masterpiece. I think one of the leading causes of “Artist’s Block” is the idea that you have to create a beautiful piece of art every time you put pencil to the page. This is not the case. In fact 90% of the time you’re drawing, it should be practice. Practicing hands or faces. Practicing cars or trees. Or practicing a future finished piece of art. If you look at my sketchbook you will find a scribbling mess that only makes sense to me. It’s far from a masterpiece, but that’s the way it should be.

Celebrating Student Achievement • The Musical Ladder System®
Canton Arts Academy is the only music schools in the Cherokee County that gives their students the opportunity to earn special color wristband bracelets (kids and teens love them!), trophies AND certificates for passing musical tests with the Musical Ladder System®. It was actually created by academy Director Marty Fort, has a patent pending and is being used by schools nationwide. Do other schools offer trophies and certificates? A few. But none of them inspire their students with smiling faces by giving them full color, really cool “Musical Ladder System®” wristbands that they can show off to their friends. More importantly when our students have a test coming up, they practice more, their parents are proud, their teachers are proud, and everybody wins!

Meet Marty!
Marty is a 4 year old green iguana who loves to climb, bask in the sun, and cuddle. He spends his days roaming around the house, swimming in the family pool, and sometimes going for car rides. His favorite foods are peas and carrots. He is 53 inches long and is not done growing yet. This big reptile is a happy lizard who loves life!
